Building Project

For over 90 years, the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has opened our doors to help the business community survive and thrive. As a membership-based organization, we have to be good stewards of the money you entrust us with to provide the invaluable services we do.

We have consistently found innovative ways to increase our efficiency, while maintaining an increasing level of service. We are ready to take the next step in securing our financial future, but we can’t do this without your support. Will you help us in our efforts?

As advocates for community improvement, we are excited to make this investment in our historic downtown district not only for our own sustainability, but also to inspire others to invest in the revitalization efforts as well. After more than 15 years of being located at 461 S. Thompson Avenue, we will be moving a few doors down to the old Sports and More building located at 426 S. Thompson Avenue. The new building will provide ample space for the Chamber to grow and provide additional services to the business community. While we have the upfront capital to purchase the building, it will require a lot of renovation work to make the space habitable. We are seeking financial support, volunteer support and in-kind donations. Work began in July 2018 and is expected to take a couple months.

• more space to allow for growth
• privacy for conference room and offices
• available meeting space for others
• retail gift shop
• trolley tour meeting point
• more visibility and serve as a gateway to the historic downtown district
• annual savings through building ownership
• Purchase building
• Replace windows along back
• Replace all electrical
• Install energy efficient HVAC
• Frame walls, install drywall and flooring
• Exterior repairs, paint and signage

How can you help?

Any dollar amount is welcomed and appreciated. All building project donations will be included in your total 2019 Annual Support Level and will qualify you for the additional recognition benefits as outlined in our full sponsorship packet.

Do you have a special talent for renovation work? The building project is going to require a complete “gut and rebuild” so we’ll need help with everything from demo to HVAC, flooring, framing, drywall, electrical and painting.

If your business can supply us with needed construction materials, that will help us save on hard costs tremendously. Lumber, paint, drywall, flooring – these are all items we’ll be needing. Be recognized $1000 and up donors will receive permanent recognition within the new space. Any donations, whether cash or in-kind will be added to your total 2019 Annual Support Level.
