LUNCHEON SPONSOR
Excelsior Springs Hospital updates on new services
The September meeting was opened by Kristen DeHart, Excelsior Springs Hospital CEO. ESH was the sponsor of the event and catered a lasagna meal.
“I am honored to be Hospital CEO since 2017,” said Kristen, who introduced her staff and board president, Tim Pence. “We are one of the longest serving hospitals in the Northland, having been here for 120 years.”
Kristen provided information about the health of the hospital and talked about new services in the Outpatient Clinic, including Dermatology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and Pediatrics clinics.
“We believe it is our responsbility to take care of our community and neighbors, and it is one we take very seriously,” said Kristen, referring to the Hospital’s Community Pharmacy which serves Excelsior Springs open Monday through Friday and provides delivery to Lawson.
“We wanted to provide 1-Stop Shopping convenience,” Kristen said. Residents can not only receive health care and pick up prescriptions in one place, but can also stop for a bite to eat. The Hospital has opened Cafe 1700, serving breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday at an economical price.
Kristen talked about the community partnership with the Children’s Services Fund of Clay County. A $441,000 grant allowed ESH to develop a wellness for children Outpatient Mental Health Care clinic. The success of the program has been recognized through Children’s Services Fund with a $1.4 million grant this year. The hospital works in partnership with the Excelsior Springs School District to reach those in need.
“I want to point out that October is Suicide Prevention Month,” said Kristen. “The hospital program treats both mental health and substance abuse illnesses. “It is not only our medical obligation, but our moral obligation.”
Kristen provided updates. The hospital’s Annual Gala will be postposed to a later date this year and will be a celebration of ESH’s 120th year. October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Again, Kristen thanked her team of employees. “They fill my cup,” she said.
