Square One Business Services
Guest speaker for the April luncheon was Ashley Moffitt, Director of Square One Director for Mid-Continent Public Library. Square One provides small business and career services. Mid-Continent has 38+ branches in Clay, Platte and Jackson counties. Square One offers business basics, social media and career services.
Ashley spoke about several centers and programs offered through the library system including the Story Center and catering kitchens for child and adult cooking classes. “We can be used as an incubator for food businesses that want to get established,” said Ashley. Mid-Continent also focuses on family literacy. The Reading Rocket provides services outside of the branches and into parks, schools, daycares, and community events.
Ashley spoke about the specifics of the business research and learning help. resources are available online, such as business magazines and research data. There are several staff that provide business assistance. Kelly Head manages the Business Information Library helping with a business plan, market research and database assistance. Nita Hughley is Community Workforce Specialist providing career development, resume review, and Linkedin profile reviews. Chloe Yotter specializes in Social Media and helps with branding strategies, social media mindset and digital marketing. Assisting Ashley with program development is Torey Berndt.
