Fence Stile Vineyards Fence Stile Vineyards is a new vineyard located at 31010 W. 124th St., just south of the golf course in Excelsior Springs. The first planting of 2.5 acres in 2007 includes Chambourcin and Concord as the red grapes and Vignoles, Vidal Blanc and Seyval Blanc as the white grapes. The plan is to add 2 - 3 acres a year with the goal being 10 acres. The first wine will be made in 2010. Fence Stile Vineyards will expand to include a winery and a bistro as well as an events venue. Plans also include the addition of a berry patch and a pumpkin patch in 2008. Fence Stile Vineyards is owned and operated by Shriti and William Plimpton. William is a residential designer and owns W. John and Company. Shriti works at Cerner Corporation. They have a son, Amrish, who is 7 years old. "We are excited to be part of this community and to engage in agro-tourism in order to help the community grow," says Shriti. "We want to involve as many people as possible - folks that have an interest in planting, harvesting, learning about wine making and the entire wine experience." "We are currently being mentored by some of the more established wineries in the Missori area and are excited to bring the entire wine experience to this area," said Shriti. "We want to get to know as much of the community as possible and create partnerships and pairings that help the community grow." Fence Stile Vineyards has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for about six months, participates in the local job fairs and uses as much local talent and labor as possible.
