RADIO DISNEY JOINS WATERFEST
Celebrates the release of Camp Rock

Families with young children will find one more thing to celebrate at this year's Waterfest event. Radio Disney AM 1190 will host an interactive radio remote featuring its Rockin' Road Crew on Friday, June 27th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the courtyard at the Hall of Waters. The event will celebrate the release of the new Disney Channel Original Movie “Camp Rock,” which stars teen sensations The Jonas Brothers. The event, which is free and open to the public, will benefit the Excelsior Springs' High School Theater Department's upcoming trip to Scotland.

The theater department was selected amongst hundreds of applicants to represent the state of Missouri at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. To get there, students continue to fundraise and the Disney event is their latest endeavor. The group is searching for sponsors for the event, with packages in various amounts, some including advertising on Radio Disney.

“Radio Disney is giving us a chance to offer businesses a great branding opportunity through association with the Disney name and advertising on the radio station,” said Kaitlyn Williams, one of the theatre students attending the trip and a member of Disney’s Rockin’ Road Crew. “We wanted the event to be free for the kids so we are still hopeful that one or more of the businesses in our area will step forward to sponsor the event.”

The Camp Rock party will feature all the hits from Radio Disney, interactive dances, games, and musical performances. Disney will give away numerous prizes including Camp Rock soundtracks, Disney DVDs, movie posters, magnets, and other memorabilia. Kids can also sign up to release their inner rock star by entering the Disney karaoke or air guitar contest. Theater students are organizing additional activities at the event including tie-dying shirts, a pie throw, a silent auction, and concessions.

Radio Disney's Rockin' Road Crew performs at businesses, schools, festivals, and benefits throughout the Kansas City Metro area.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the Disney event should contact Williams at 630-5225.

“This event will definitely be a highlight of the Waterfest celebration for area families,” said Williams.
