Business of the Month —
Christ Our Redeemer Church

Christ Our Redeemer Church has been serving the Excelsior Springs community since March 2010. The church meets at the Good Samaritan Center, 108 South Thompson Ave., Excelsior Springs, in the Great Hall., with Rev. Peter Lindstrom, pastor. The congregation joined the chamber in 2012.

We are a group of imperfect people that gathers together as a church to worship God in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18). As God calls all of His creation to worship Him, we look forward to worship every Sunday in which we give praise to God and remember His mercies to us through Jesus Christ, acknowledging and repenting of our sins. We are a church that loves God's Word, and so we eagerly read and study it together. We also take the time to pray — pray for our community, pray for our leaders, pray for our families, etc. At the conclusion of our worship we gather around the Lord's Table, eating and drinking of the bread and the cup. The purpose of our weekly worship is then to give glory and honor to our Creator and Savior who then sends his church out into the world to love and obey Him and serve one another.

Why did we join the chamber?
Christ Our Redeemer Church joined the Chamber to be better acquainted and better serve the local community. We pray often for our town asking that God would direct our officials and community to be faithful to Him and seek His blessings.

What is our community environment?
One of the desires of Christ Our Redeemer Church is for a multi-generational vision to preserve and build a spiritual heritage. As the church consists of a number of households, relationships are important to this ministry. We gather together each week, then, desiring to unite the home and the church as a “family of families” that is encouraged to worship together, learn together, and fellowship together.

Other activities of the church include the following:
• Disciple Makers. This is a time twice in the month following the worship service in which we have opportunity to discuss important topics in a less formal way over a cup of coffee or tea.
• Fellowship meals. Twice a month after Disciple Makers we spend extra time with each other eating together. This provides opportunity to get to know one another and encourage one another.
• Nursing home ministry. Once a month we seek to encourage those in a local nursing home through conversation and music.
• Hymn Sings. Once a month during the week at a family’s home we gather to sing, pray and fellowship with one another.
• Men’s meeting. Once a month on a Saturday we meet at the Van Till Family Farm and Winery to eat breakfast and discuss important issues for the church and culture.
• Yearly events include various activities from "Lessons and Carols" during the Christmas time to “Dads and Daughters Day Out” in the summertime.

We at Christ Our Redeemer Church hope that you seek the Lord Jesus Christ, Creator and Savior of the world. Only through Him do we have forgiveness from our sins, and by the Holy Spirit’s strength and grace are we able to love God and one another.

Christ Our Redeemer Church is in the denomination, Covenant Presbyterian Church, “that is committed to presbyterian practice, doctrinal purity, faithful worship, and the expansion of Christ’s Kingdom to all areas of society and home.”

If you have any questions about your relationship with God and/or about Christ Our Redeemer Church, please don’t hesitate to ask.
