NorthCare Hospice House
NorthCare Hospice offers specialized care for people with a limited life expectancy. We are an affiliate of North Kansas City Hospital and are located on its campus. We have carefully assembled a team of highly skilled professionals to address each patient’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. Our care focuses on maintaining the best possible quality of life for our patients.
We take care of patients with a wide range of life limiting illness. Our patients elect comfort care over disease directed treatments. The individual's doctor and our hospice medical director certify that our patients have a 6 month prognosis if their disease follows its normal progression. Early referral to NorthCare Hospice makes it possible for us to establish strong medical, emotional, and spiritual support systems.
Hospice is paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances. No one is denied services from NorthCare due to lack of financial resources. NorthCare is a not for profit organization. We provide care where a patient lives. This could be their home, a friend or relatives home, a nursing home, or any other type of residential facility. Patients can also stay short term at our Hospice House, which is also located on the NKC Hospital campus. Under the direction of our Medical Director, who is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, we utilize the most sophisticated symptom management techniques. Our care is leading edge and innovative within our industry. We are locally owned with deep roots in the Northland.
Our team consists of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Hospice Techs, Social Workers, Chaplains, Volunteers, Dietitians, Physical, Occupational, and Respiratory Therapists. We also have a Nursing Home Administrator on staff and bereavement specialists. We have specialty programs in Cardiac, Advanced Lung, and ALS disease. Our volunteers see patients for friendly visits, do special projects in our offices, are hospitality receptionists in the hospice house, interview and record our patient's life stories through our lifetime legacy program, and work with our No One Dies Alone program, or our Veteran’s program. If you are interested in volunteering please give our volunteer coordinators a call at 816-691-5119. If you have a loved one that has declining health and you would like us to evaluate them for our services, we would happily do an information visit.
Recently North Kansas City Hospital and Excelsior Springs Hospital became affiliated.
