• Sept. 3 Bingo every Friday night, with Early Bird Bingo at 5:45 p.m., and regular Bingo at 7 p.m., American Legion Post #236. Kitchen opens at 4:30 p.m. serving a different special every Friday night.
• Sept. 3 Movies on the Lawn, 9 p.m. Join us for the showing of "The Blind Side". Gates open at 8:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 9 p.m. $1.00 grounds fee per person, hotel guests receive complimentary admission.
• Sept. 4 2nd Annual 5-K i-ROK Foundation Run and Walk at the Excelsior Springs High School, 8 a.m. Participate in the "Team Challenge" by organizing a team of 10 or more people to raise additional funds for the i-ROK Foundation. • Sept. 11 Dog Retreat Wine Tasting with Fence Stile Vineyards and Winery, Elms Resort, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
• Sept. 11 Noted journalist and nationally syndicated columnist Charles Gusewelle is scheduled to speak at the Elms Hotel, 7 p.m. The event is open to the public and is part of Dog Retreat, a benefit for Excelsior Springs Friends of Animals. (see above) There is no admission fee, however there will be donation jars at the door. Mr. Gusewelle will speak and then sign books. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
• Sept. 11 Live music with Jim Thomas, Fence Stile Vineyards and Winery, 31010 W. 124th St., 5 - 7 p.m.

City News:
MoDOT bridge work continues on the bridge on the west end of town. Work on the bridge over Fishing River on the east end of town is complete and now open to through traffic. The City has made commercial detour maps and alternate routes for citizens available on it's website, click here.
