Block Party Kicks off 125th Anniversary Celebration

Volunteers from the Crescent Lake Christian Academy served as hostesses for serving the 125th Anniversary cake during the kickoff celebration Block Party, June 11.

The Excelsior Springs High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Ben Buckman, performed at the Hall of Waters during the Block Party.

Activities for the kick-off Block Party celebration were designed to provide fun activities for community children and an opportunity to make new friends during the event.

People gathered around the water bar at the Hall of Waters to help judge artwork and essays of area students depicting what they like most about Excelsior Springs.

Tisha Mason, left, of Tony's on Broadway provided refreshments on-site. 125th Anniversary committee member Betty Bissell offered commemorative t-shirts, mugs, coins, postcards and more. Anniversary souveniors are available at the Chamber offices and Hallof Waters. Proceeds will be used to further historic preservation activities of the Museum and to restore mineral water pagodas.
